Effect of Natural Substances as Antioxidants and as Corrosion Inhibitors of Carbon Steel on Soybean Biodiesel

The use of natural additives in biodiesel has been investigated, however, there is limited information the literature relation to their influence on corrosion resistance and oxidative stability. This work aims investigate stability carbon steel (AISI 1020) contact with soybean solutions (B100) presence absence such as: rosmarinic acid, curcumin, gingerol, eugenol, thymol quercetin. Corrosion microscopy tests were used assess resistance. Rancimat technique was study results obtained indicate that curcumin best additive stability, while acid showed better performance inhibiting corrosion. effect these substances related phenolic compounds or existence oxygen its molecular structure.
